Picking the Right Floor Plan for Your Manufactured Home

January 27, 20233 min read

When you decide to buy a manufactured home, you might be surprised by all the floor plans available to you! While this is definitely one of the most exciting parts of buying a new home, it can also be very stressful as you try to decide on the one that best meets your needs.

At Clayton Homes, we offer a wide range of floor plans to meet the requirements of most families. Of course, we understand that it can be a bit hard to narrow down the perfect one, but don’t worry, that’s why we’re here!

This simple guideline will help make the decision much easier. Here are a few questions you should consider when purchasing your modular home or manufactured home.

How Much Space Do I Need?

The first place to start when deciding on a floor plan is figuring out how much space your family needs. Naturally, larger families tend to need more space so that they don't feel crowded.

Depending on your wants and needs, picking a floor plan with more square footage will mean your manufactured home will feel a lot more spacious and comfortable.

Just be sure to consider where the space is. If you want a big dining room to host gatherings, keep this in mind when you're looking at your options. Big bedrooms are nice, but it will be harder to host if your living room or dining room are too small for the number of guests you want to entertain.

How Many Bedrooms Do I Need?

The next step is deciding how many bedrooms you want. You may need four bedrooms to fit the whole family or you may decide you only need two if it’s only you and your partner.

Take your time when deciding on your floor plan for your new mobile home and keep in mind how things may change in the future.

How Many Bathrooms?

Bathrooms are a bit easier to decide on as most families prefer at least 1.5 bathrooms. If you're looking to buy a home in Donna, Texas, from Clayton Homes, be aware that we offer mostly 2-bathroom homes.

If you think you might need more space, you can talk to one of our agents about your options.

Do I Need Extra Rooms or Other Features?

Many families are perfectly happy with the traditional rooms: bedrooms, bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen. If you want a bit extra, consider this when you are picking a floor plan.

If you want a big pantry or a home office, this will play into the type of floor plan you decide on.

Other Important Features

Beyond your physical space, consider the layout of the floor plan. Some options may work better than others for how you prefer to live. You should also pay attention to window placement and doors. Windows help bring in natural light, while you may want an additional entrance or be able to close off rooms.
